I had the privilege of going down to Atlantic Station in Atlanta and supporting the worship team there in what they are doing. The church, Midtown Bridge, operates inside a theater complex and they set up every Sunday morning and tear it down soon after service is over. It takes a comitted bunch to do this every sunday. It was beautiful to see the team come in early and setting up, that was worship. Grady, the worship leader has a real heart for the city, for where they are and it was interesting to see how he took popular worship songs and completely changed them - chords et al. Because the place where they are has a strong lean towards a more soul, bluesy musical feel. I loved how he was adapting, keeping his eyes and ear open to where God has placed him and is changing songs to suit that specific location. Needless to say, Grady loves that style of music so it's no wonder that God has him there! Atlantic Station is a diverse culture with high rises cropping up everywhere there are about 100 thousand people from various cultures within a 1 mile range. It is a high traffic area (thaks to Ikea!) The most interesting things in visiting another church to see what God is doing are the people, the faces, the names and the characteristics. Names like Miller, Doc and Frankie and so many others love God and they worship Him and I would not have met these guys if I had not left my home church on an occasional Sunday. I don't know but these things excite me. To see the body of Christ. To see the beauty of His creation. The worship was lovely and the message was bout what happens when Jesus comes to a city. I tell you, that little church meeting in a theater expects Jesus to walk into Atlantic Station and they expect great things. Below are some pictures from my cellphone camera. You can click the images to see larger versions.
Guys, here's the best part. Say a prayer for these guys. You don't know them but they are workers in the Kingdom. Take a few seconds and bless this team, pray that Atlantic Station will know Jesus. Pray that this church grows and pray for the comitted team that sets up and tears down every Sunday. Trackback(0)
