Discoverying new expressions of worship through music, movement and light
So, I was invited to an experimental house party last week saturday, at a new friends house. After an amazing braai (barbeque) experience, we moved in to the lounge, and there was a sound rig, projector, V4 (VJ) desk, with laptops and lights, mixers, candles, camera... We started by being led into an exercise on movement, to try and loosen us up a bit and get us feeling a bit more comfortable with ourselves, and others in the room....doing something new.... The camera was focussed on scripture on the walls, with candles and small statues, which each members of the experiment got to film and create their masterpiece! The music was very groovey and four on the floor at about 130bpm.... mixing secular, church, atmospheric music, with live video "Vj-ing" and music Dj using abelton and other fun electronics to create a very good presentation! What I had thought would move us more into a body expressing experience, learning to let go, actually saw us moving deeper in, with the environment lending itself to a very sweet presence of God, amongst the pounding rave music. Might try it in church one night! Something different...
