1.  What does worship mean to me?

The meaning of worship over the years has changed for me dramatically. And during different seasons it varies as well. Right now, in this season of my life, worship for me is turning back to God my praise no matter how tough life is, no matter how unfair things seem to be, no matter how rotten things get, I just keep praising and thanking Him for His unfailing ways.   When I do that, in thought or in deed - through loving others or through a song, or through celebrating as a community the Eucharist - well, then I've worshiped; and a transformation of my spirit takes place in this exchange.

2.  What do you think happens when you worship?

It's a mystery to me. I believe what happens is that through the worship we offer, heaven and earth touch, and we have a moment with God where tranformation occurs. There isn't a time when I worship God that I am not a new creation, transformed as a result of that encounter.

3.  What causes you to worship?

My daughter's laughter. The ocean. The beauty of a mountain range. Nature in general. Serving others who are less fortunate. Being struct with the profound reality of what the exchange was that Christ made for us; seeing my human depravity compared to God's infinite beauty.

4.  How is worship displayed in your life?

There is obviously community worship within our church body, and the celebration of the Eucharist with our church community on a weekly basis. But beyond that, it is through our love - through our relationships, through choosing to prefer another over ourselves, through looking out for those who are often forgotten.

5.  What is your favorite song and why?

That is hard because it does change for me. Right now it is Brenton Brown's "Everlasting God" because it affirms that God is beyond all of this temperal stuff we find ourselves entwined in here on earth, and that He is bigger than anything we struggle with - He is everlasting. He is Eternal. It fills me with hope, inspires me to love and risk, and worship and that is the best kind of worship song.
