Ben Abu Saada Ben is the Worship Pastor & Communications Director at Grace Church in Overland Park, KS. He also co-hosts the All About Worship Podcast for worship leaders and songwriters. Learn more about Ben on his blog at http://BabuLife.blogs.com and at http://www.AllAboutWorship.com . 1. What does worship mean to you? Worship is the thing everyone does. My desire as a worship leader is to help people fill that "worship gap" with a relationship with God. I've learned in my walk that there are many things battling for my affections. My daily hope is that God continues to help me put what's important on the throne of my heart. 2. What do you think happens when you worship?God is pleased first; I'm reminded personally of my worthlessness. The desires of my heart become more His vs. what I want. 3. What causes you to worship? I am caused to worship when I see God. When I see who God is through reading the Bible, through hearing a story of life change, and through experiencing first hand His grace and love. Some of the most amazing worship times in the life of my family have been when we were driven to our knees through a trial or circumstance. Those have always been more ways for us to learn who God is; and, if you don't know who God is, how can you ever truly worship Him? So I'm always grateful for those times that God shows Himself faithful. 4. How is worship displayed in your life? Wow! Great question! I think many times it's in the things we don't imagine as being acts of worship. When I continually "pray without ceasing;" that is, acknowledge the Lord in all things. Acts of service toward others is another way. One of my favorite things to do is play with my three daughters. I envision God getting the same feeling of warmth and love for us when we spend time with Him. 5. What is your favorite song and why? That's a tough one. There are so many songs that have impacted me at certain points in my walk with Christ. Currently I'd have to say right now "Adoration" by Brenton Brown. It is just a fantastic reminder of the calling every believer in Christ has on our lives: to surrender everything for it's our "reasonable service" to pursue the true prize which is not found here on earth. I love the bridge: "We choose to leave it all behind and turn our eyes towards the prize. The upward call of God in Christ, You have our hearts Lord take our lives." |
