5Questions with Tracy Veneman

Name:  Tracy Veneman
Location:  Livermore

Pastor Mike was born and raised in Modesto CA. in the central San Joaquin Valley. Raised in a Christian home, he put his faith in Jesus Christ at the age of 10. In 1984 he married his high school friend and sweetheart, Tracy

Together they now have 4 children.

In 1993, the Veneman family moved to the foothill town of Valley Springs CA. They attended and served at Calvary Chapel Valley Springs until 2005. In July of 2005, Pastor Mike answered the Lord's call to serve Him as senior pastor of Calvary Chapel Livermore in the San Francisco East Bay area.

Pastor Mike believes the Lord had called him to preach the truth of God's Word without compromise and serve the people of the East Bay area. The biblical basis for the church of Calvary Chapel Livermore is found in Acts 2:42.  And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers."

1. What does worship mean to you?
Worship is an essential, inextricable part of life in Jesus.   I do not see how I could, or anyone could say they know and love the Lord but not enter into worship of Him.  Worship is when I communicate with Him and respond to all His greatness, pouring out the depths of my heart and soul in response to all He has revealed to me of Himself.  It is my response to His awesome, inexpressible glory and person.

2. What do you think happens when you worship?
I believe the ultimate goal is that God is exalted and glorified, and I believe this happens when we enter into true worship.  Building upon the glorification of God, others can then see and hear the magnificence of the One worthy of worship.

3. What causes you to worship?
My worship is a response to God when He has revealed Himself to me through His Word, showing me His magnificence, kindness, faithfulness, power, etc…

4. How is worship displayed in your life?
I believe that worship is more than just singing songs on Sunday or whenever there is “church.”  The expression of worship in song when the body is assembled really should be an expression of living with and walking with the Lord Jesus throughout the week.  Therefore, worship is displayed through obedience to His Word and also through the singing of praise, wherein the fruit of my lips is simply an expression of what is going on in my life.  True worship of God through song is only true worship when it has the substance behind it of a life wholly submitted unto God through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.  True worship in song has a heart and life that substantiates the assertions and claims set forth in song.

5. What is your favorite song and why?
My favorites change but right now my favorite is:  “None But Jesus”  by Hillsong United.  It is my favorite because I am coming off five tough years, and He was faithful through it all and even though it has been difficult, I have learned that He alone is my contentment, not money, not success, not a college degree, not husband, not children, not friends, nothing.  There is nothing and no one else for me but Jesus who is worth living for, who can fulfill, who can comfort, who can instruct, who can love.  “There is no one else for me, none but Jesus, crucified to set me free.  Now I live to bring Him praise.”  There is no other reason to live but Him and He is eternal and faithful and forever.  I read this recently at the end of a “World” magazine article and it expressed my life’s heart and goal: “ 24/7/365 Jesus”.

Visit their church website and we encourage to say a short prayer for them. It takes about 5 seconds!
