1. What does worship mean to you?
At its core, worship is offering myself fully to God in submission to him.
2. What do you think happens when you worship?
3. What causes you to worship?
Worship is a response to God: his majesty and mercy, his grace and love. Most of all, worship is a response to God's give of salvation through Jesus Christ.
4. How is worship displayed in your life?
I worship when I join together with God's people for weekly "worship services." I worship in my personal life when I pray. But I worship also through offering my body as a living sacrifice, giving myself to God by serving others in his name.
5. What is your favorite song and why?
Besides "Happy Birthday to You?" This is hard! I'd probably choose "Great is Thy Faithfulness." Why? The words come right out of Scripture and express something profoundly true about God. The song focuses on God and is communication with Him. This song has been sung at many key moments in my life: at the memorial service for my father; at my ordination service; at my last service at Irvine Presbyterian Church. I've told my wife that I want this song to be sung at my funeral (which, I hope, is still a long way away).
Peace,
Mark
