Name: Lauren T. Kitchens
Gender: Female
Location: Tupelo, MS, Brentwood, TN & Los Angeles, CA (I live in all three places)
Age: 43
I am a media personality, college professor, and professional speaker. My heart is to complete my life calling with victory, joy, and peace on this earth and to help all who cross my path to do the same.
To grasp the fact that we are truly loved by the Creator of this vast
Universe from the time of our conception. I have seen in my own life
how the greater struggles and "lack of " have drawn me more to the
throne of grace and mercy. In times of great loss I have seen the glory
of the Lord in a deeper, more beautiful way. I know that we can trust
HIM fully and rest in the truth; HE is, indeed, working it all for our
good--even our off-beat choices. Our Father is not surprised by our
humanness; he looks at the heart and knows the motives behind each beat
even better than we know our own. If we all only lived as George
Bailey, realizing the value of each precious life including our own.
1. What does worship mean to you?
Magnifying the Lord, going to that place where it's just the two of
you. Psalm 22 says "He inhabits the praises of HIS people..." That is
a place of honor towards HIM. It's a time for us to pull away from all
of our distractions and only think of HIS glory.
2. What do you think happens when you worship?
I think we are healed, touched, restored, and drawn closer to the hem of HIS garment. We are in HIS presense and all the yuck of the world just falls away.
3. What causes you to worship?
I was raised by parents who loved the Lord with all their heart, soul, and mind. So I have always been drawn to those intimate times at church, at home singing, just me, or in times of prayer and supplication. I worship to be set free of the world and it's daily tugs.
4. How is worship displayed in your life?
I pray with the fruits of the spirit flowing out of my heart and soul. We can talk about our love and adoration for the Lord all day long but if the fruit is not there, we will not touch a hurting, dying world. I want all that I say and do to reflect my alone times with HIM.
5. What is your favorite song and why?
I know this will sound cliche but there is nothing more touching to my soul than the old hymns I grew up singing: "Amazing Grace," "There's A Sweet Sweet Spirit," and "Holy Ground." As I stood over my beautiful Mom while she passed into the arms of the Lord, I sang all of these songs over her during the amazing transition.
