Holland's three projects... Healing Word, I Will Stand and Unto The King along with songs, chord charts or lead sheets can be found at worshipsong.com. 1. What does worship mean to you? Worship is such a huge topic. To me, everything I do in response to God's love is an act of worship. It is a life that is completely surrendered to God without restraint. For most people, worship is what we do when we gather together as a community of believers. When I look at worship from that perspective, I see worship as our prayers set to music. If we look at the Psalms we see the national liturgy for Israel - literally the prayers of the people as they cried out to God accompanied by song. That cry can be a cry of help or a cry of affection and intimacy with God. 2. What do you think happens when you worship? When we worship I believe that God draws near... that we encounter Him.... He speaks to us... He interacts with us. At this year's Worship Life Conference, we had an unbeliever come into one of the times of worship. He immediately sensed something was different and sought out someone to ask what it was. We eventually led him to Christ. It was easy because God had already revealed Himself to the young man. When we see God as He is as Isaiah does, it causes us to align ourselves up with Him and His ways and empowers us to surrender and turn from our ways. 3. What causes you to worship? I have noticed over the years that I really am drawn into worship when I see God at work in the lives of those around me. I am reminded of a man that was homeless and lost. We spent a week ministering to him, led him to Christ and then he disappeared. Around 2 years later he reappeared in our church. He was a completely changed person! That morning as he lifted his hands in worship, I could barely sing. More recently, I led worship for a group called Exodus International. They minister to those who are coming out of the homosexual lifestyle. When they come to the Lord, they know they are broken and in need of a touch from God. I am always brought to tears as I see the joy in their faces because of God's healing power in their lives. It's amazing!!! 4. How is worship displayed in your life? In my life worship is displayed fundamentally in my love for God and my love for others. In my love for God it's displayed by offering my gifts and talents in faithful service to Him. That might be leading worship, it might be sitting at His feet and enjoying His presence, it might be helping someone move. In my love for others it's displayed by being available to them as a friend and a pastor. When I praying with someone, I see it as an act of worship and I am awed to see how God will glorify Himself through the assignments He gives me to do. Not because I'm great, but because He is GREAT. 5. What is your favorite song and why? Right now my favorite song is a song I wrote called Worthy Is The Lamb. The second part of the second verse says... "The nations tremble at Your voice, the broken hearted ones rejoice when they hear the sound of their coming King." Whenever I sing that line I imagine all these broken folks that I know... many broken at the very core of their being... so much so that they suffer mentally and emotionally. Some are so broken they will most likely struggle their entire lives. I see in my mind all these broken folks hearing the sound of the Mighty Deliverer... the one who can heal them... the one who can break every chain... they one that can free them from the deepest bondage... I see them hearing the thunderous footsteps of the King of Kings as He approaches on His White Horse in Revelation and then they run with all their might with a deafening cheer to meet Him!!! And in a moment when they see Him, they experience the liberation from bondage they've been crying their whole life for. That day will be glorious!!! Trackback(0)
